I can't believe how fast this year has flown by! It's almost Halloween and before we know it, it'll be Christmas!
I wanted to design something for Halloween, and when I saw my sister's bear ghost drawing, I couldn't resist making a crochet version! 👻🐻

This pattern uses US terminology and is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified. I recommend using a stitch marker or a scrap piece of yarn to mark the first stitch of each round.

Boo the Beary Cute Ghost will measure approx. 10cm when using similar yarn and hook size.
Materials
- 8 ply (DK) cotton in white, brown, and beige
- 3mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Polyester fibrefill stuffing
- Black embroidery thread for eyes and mouth
Abbreviations (US terminology)
- sc: single crochet (note: I have used x-shaped stitches)
- inc: single crochet increase
- dec: single crochet invisible decrease
- R: round
- st(s): stitch(es)
- ch: chain
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- FLO: front loop only
- BLO: back loop only
- sk: skip
Head and body (make 1)
Using white yarn
R1: sc 6 in magic circle [6 sts]R2: (inc) x 6 [12 sts]R3: (sc 1, inc) x 6 [18 sts]R4: (sc 1, inc, sc 1) x 6 [24 sts]R5: (sc 3, inc) x 6 [30 sts]R6: (sc 2, inc, sc 2) x 6 [36 sts]R7: sc in each st [36 sts]R8: (sc 5, inc) x 6 [42 sts]R9 - R24: sc in each st i.e. 16 rounds [42 sts]R25a: in FLO (sc 3, inc, sc 3) x 6 [48 sts]R26a: (sk 1 st, hdc, 4 dc in same st, hdc, sk 1 st, sl st) x 8 [56 sts]
Fasten off white yarn
Join brown to back loop from R24
R25b: sc in each st [42 sts]R26b: (sc 5, dec) x 6 [36 sts]R27: (sc 2, dec, sc 2) x 6 [30 sts]R28: (sc 3, dec) x 6 [24 sts]R29: (sc 1, dec, sc 1) x 6 [18 sts]
Begin stuffing
R30: (sc 1, dec) x 6 [12 sts]R31: (dec) x 6 [6 sts]
Finish stuffing
Fasten off and leave a long thread. Thread the yarn through the front loops of the 6 sts and pull to close. Weave in the end.
Muzzle (make 1)
Using beige yarn
R1: sc 6 in magic circle [6 sts]R2: sc 1, inc x 3, sc 2 [9 sts]
Fasten off and leave a long thread. Make an invisible finish between the first and last stitch i.e. when you complete the invisible finish, it should look like there are 10 sts. Leave a long thread for sewing
Embroider the nose and mouth details using black embroidery thread. The increases should be at the top part of the muzzle.
Face (make 1)
Using brown yarn
Ch 5
You will be crocheting around this chain
R1: starting in second ch from hook, sc 3, sc 3 in last st. Continuing on other side of chain, sc 2, inc [10 sts]
Sl st in first stitch of R1. This will be the new end of the round. i.e. the second st of R1 will be the first st of R2.
R2: sc 2, (inc) x 3, sc 2, (inc) x 3 [16 sts]R3: sc 2, (sc 1, inc) x 3, sc 2, (sc 1, inc) x 3 [22 sts]R4: sc 2, (inc, sc 2) x 3, sc 2, (inc, sc 2) x 3 [28 sts]
Fasten off and leave a long thread. Make an invisible finish and leave a long thread for sewing
Embroider eyes using black embroidery thread over round 2 (approx. 3 sts apart). Note: the invisible finish will be on the bottom part of the face.
Ears (make 2)
Using brown yarn
R1: sc 6 in magic circle [6 sts]R2: (sc 1, inc, sc 1) x 2 [8 sts]R3: sc in each st [8 sts]
Do not stuff
Fasten off and leave a long thread for sewing.
Arms (make 2)
Using white yarn
R1: sc 6 in magic circle [6 sts]R2: (sc 1, inc) x 3 [9 sts]R3: (sc 1, inc, sc 1) x 3 [12 sts]R4: sc in each st [12 sts]R5: (sc 2, dec, sc 2) x 2 [10 sts]R6 - R7: sc in each st i.e. 2 rounds [10 sts]
Stuff
Fasten off and leave a long thread for sewing.
Feet (make 2)
Using brown yarn
R1: sc 6 in magic circle [6 sts]R2: (inc) x 6 [12 sts]R3 - R4: sc in each st i.e. 2 rounds [12 sts]
Stuff
Fasten off and leave a long thread for sewing.
Putting it all together- Sew the face over rounds 7 to 14 of the head and body
- Sew the muzzle to the face. It should sit just under the eyes
- Sew the ears over rounds 4 to 6 of the head and body
- Sew the arms over rounds 15 and 16 of the body. It should line up with the bottom edge of the face
- Sew the feet to the bottom of the body
